Just a quick update to let you know how things are going in my world.
Have started back at work again which is good because I’ve got lots of things to do before Feb. Am quite enjoying it actually which is nice. Have enrolled in a video-editing course already so am really looking forward to playing around with that.
My back. Remember how I ‘clicked’ it on NYE? Well it was NOT getting any better. In fact I had to be assisted to even get out of bed. Not part of my Fab@40 picture I can tell you.
Well I succumbed to the fact that it wasn’t going to fix itself and booked in to see the osteopath. I could tell immediately on leaving that the pain was different and was now heading in the right direction. That is, leaving. Had my second treatment today and am now feeling pretty good. I’ll be ready to get back into some gentle exercise like swimming tomorrow so that’s what I plan to do. My foods been okay for the past couple of days but it’s been hard to re-establish discipline (post Christmas/NYE) without having the exercise to anchor it. I’ve said before though that diet is probably the major contributing factor so I’ve been trying to be good. I think the killer is the social drinks at this time of the year. There are so many BBQ’s, gatherings and opportunities to socialise it’s not funny. And while a couple (maybe 2 or 3) quiet drinks is a pretty civilised effort for me, when you add a few of them together over the course of a week, it adds up to a lot of empty calories and missed ‘fat-burning’ opportunities.
Anyway. I’m staying positive and bit by bit getting myself back on track. I think the lesson learned for me was a) I’m shot without a routine or structure, b) I should’ve paced myself in the food and booze indulgence stakes, as I was not able to return to training when I had originally planned (lucky it wasn’t a longer term injury). Oh well, Tony can help me to fix it.
